GITBAN Spotlight: Prince Agordah-From Engineering to Excellence in Banking and Leadership

Introduction

Prince Agordah is a proud alumnus of the GITB Lead Program (2021 Cohort), graduating after his undergraduate studies in Electrical and Electronic Engineering. Today, he serves as the Programs Director at Genius IT Foundation and also as an Acting RM/MSE at Absa Bank—a remarkable testament to how versatile and impactful the GITB experience can be.

Educational Journey

“My time at Genius IT Brainery was a complete eye-opener,” Prince reflects.
The Brainery was more than just a program—it was his personal “ah-ha” moment, a transformative experience that shaped how he sees the world and how he approaches life.

From world-class facilitators to an inspiring Director who modeled what he taught, every moment at GITB was an opportunity for growth.
During the program, Prince contributed to a standout project: an Audio E-book Reader, developed in collaboration with Asustem Robotics. This innovation showcased not only his technical skills but also his passion for impact.

Although now in the banking sector—a path seemingly unrelated to engineering—Prince credits the Brainery for laying the foundation:

  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office, especially Excel
  • Strong communication and presentation skills
  • Teamwork and people management

Today, he manages a diverse portfolio of over 40 businesses, including top hospitality service providers and pharmaceutical companies. Among them is one of Ghana’s top 3 most expensive hotels—recognized for leading turnover performance.

“Cheers to the Brainery for producing alumni who are not just competent but actively getting things done.”

Challenges and Successes

Working in the banking sector, Prince has faced high-stakes challenges:
managing large portfolios, maintaining relationships with MDs and Founders, and balancing the needs of both large enterprises and small SMEs.

But his mindset remains grounded in action:

“Banking is not for the weak. But when you have a leader who proves that hard work doesn’t break bones, you learn to rise and get things done.”

His admiration for the Brainery’s leadership remains clear:

“Show me a hard worker who multitasks and delivers results, and I’ll show you Mr. Kitsi.”

Advice to Current Students and Alumni
  • Master Excel. Whether in business or corporate life, Excel is your ally.
  • Work on your presentation and communication skills.
  • Show up well—dress the part.
  • Stay connected. The Brainery is a growing community, and your next opportunity may come from this very network.

“We’re not just building individuals—we’re building a professional community.”

Future Goals

Prince is driven by one core passion: supporting startups and building programs that uplift emerging ideas. His vision is clear—he plans to do it all through the Brainery.

“The future is collaborative, and I want to be part of the engine that powers it.”
