GITBAN SPOTLIGHT: PRECIOUS MATEY

Introduction

Meet Precious Mantey, a 2024 GITB graduate. She is currently employed as a National Service Personnel at the Ho-Fiave E.P Primary School. She has created an effective School-Based Assessment (SBA) system that creates class rankings by tabulating all student data using Excel.

Educational Journey

Having no laptop of her own was one of the difficulties Precious had when she first joined Genius IT Brainery in 2018. With guidance from the CEO of the Brainery Mr. Desmond Kitsi, she re-enrolled and mastered essential Microsoft Office skills that has considerably contributed to her professional development.

Career Highlights

Currently teaching Basic 4 Computing, she has leveraged her IT expertise to develop an Excel-based automated SBA system that has made a formerly manual process more efficient.

Challenges and Successes

Striking a balance between her National Service responsibilities and academics at GITB was no small task. She was able to reorganize her schedules to finish training with support from Mr. Kitsi. Today, she is proud to be proficient in Microsoft Office.

Advice to Current Students and Fellow Alumni .

Set specific goals and manage your time effectively. She advises GITB students to work with urgency as these habits pave the way to success.

Future Aspirations

Precious aspires to work with the Ghana Education Service, integrating IT into her teaching. Long-term, she hopes to pursue a career in law.
